Jayashree Print Viscose Silk Stole (Large)

Jayashree Chakravarty (b.1956), born in Khoai, Tripura, completed her BFA at Visva Bharati in Santiniketan and her MFA in painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Maharaja Sayajirao University in Baroda. She spent her formative years in Kolkata, surrounded by nature which evolved into an urban landscape, influencing her work which merges the old and new. She is known to work with different mediums, including rice paper and cellophane.

Chakravarty's works are part of the collections of the Chandigarh Museum and the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi. She received the Bombay Art Society Award in 1980. In 1988 she was awarded the Gujarat Lalit Kala Akademi Award and the Second Bharat Bhavan Biennale Award among other achievements. She currently lives and works in Kolkata.
